Levante Secures Permanent License to Operate in Brazil’s Betting Market

Levante Brasil LTDA (Levante) has officially been granted a permanent license to operate in Brazil’s newly regulated betting sector. After launching on January 1, 2025, under a provisional license, the company has now received full approval from the Ministry of Finance. This approval follows a rigorous process ensuring compliance with the stringent criteria established by the Brazilian Federal Government.

Levante combines the expertise of two major industry players: Sorte Online, a pioneer in Brazil’s digital lottery brokerage market, and Lottoland, a global leader in online lotteries and gaming. The company is now licensed to offer online fixed-odds games and sports betting in Brazil, a market generating between BRL 100 billion and BRL 120 billion annually, according to XP Investimentos.

This permanent license, which is valid until December 31, 2029, reflects Levante’s commitment to providing high-quality customer experiences, promoting responsible gaming practices, and ensuring transparent operations. The Brazilian market, which is under stringent new regulations, is expected to foster a safer and more transparent gaming environment, benefiting both operators and players.

As part of Levante, Sorte Online has long been a leader in the digital lottery sector in Brazil. Founded in 2003, Sorte Online has distributed over R$250 million in prizes and is recognized as the top digital intermediary for lottery games in the country. The company identified a gap in the market, providing Brazilian players with an efficient and user-friendly way to participate in lottery games, bypassing the long queues at traditional lottery agencies.

Sorte Online’s platform also integrates data intelligence, offering tools that enable players to assess probabilities and improve their chances of winning. With a focus on user experience and personalization, Sorte Online continues to set the standard for responsible gaming practices in Brazil.

Levante also operates Lottoland, an online lottery provider founded in 2013. Lottoland has established a solid presence across 15 markets and has attracted over 20 million customers. The company is known for offering players the chance to win large jackpots instantly and access popular international lotteries.

Lottoland’s entry into Brazil strengthens Levante’s offering, bringing global regulatory expertise and ensuring compliance with local market requirements. The company has a well-established reputation in regulated markets such as the UK, Ireland, and South Africa, and its Brazilian expansion marks a significant milestone.

Now entering its 12th year of operations, Lottoland continues to expand its product range, including the introduction of KenoGO in Australia, which offers the world’s largest Keno jackpot. In the past year alone, Lottoland has attracted 2.5 million new customers, further cementing its position as a prominent player in the global gaming industry.

“We are thrilled to expand our activities. The expertise we’ve built over 21 years in the Brazilian market places us in a unique position. This approval reinforces our decades-long commitment to responsible gaming practices,” says Márcio Malta, CEO of Sorte Online.

“We are excited that the Lottoland brand has secured its license to operate online gaming and betting in Brazil. The application process was rigorous, as expected, but fortunately, our team has extensive experience in meeting compliance regulations and has worked tirelessly to ensure Lottoland is ready to enter the Federal Regulated Market,” emphasizes Nigel Birrell, Group CEO of Lottoland.

“The combination of Sorte Online’s local expertise and Lottoland’s global reach positions Levante as one of the most promising operators in Brazil’s regulated market. With the sector’s regulation, Levante aims for a year of consolidation in 2025, focusing on sustainable growth and offering an enhanced experience to Brazilian players,” concludes the statement.
